Today, the person who commissioned me to paint a tall painting came to my studio… I had painted three, so he would have a choice. He chose a tall one, and unexpectedly, a square one! I am a lucky girl, and feel very grateful.

Boggle Hole. 2012
oil on canvas, 40x100x4cm, £425.
Boggle Hole, a small bay next to Robin Hood’s Bay. It is a favourite space for me, having walked many times along the beach at low tide from Robin Hood’s Bay to visit friends who live there. The painting was partly inspired by the description of Boggle Hole in A.S. Byatt’s “Possession”. Started in 2007, the painting was left unfinished until this year. Currently in the Coast Gallery, Cloughton.
